Reverend guitars may be a relatively new and unknown company in the guitar manufacturer landscape, but they are a brand that is very quick on the rise, and for good reason! Many professional guitarists expect a certain level of quality and special features on their guitars, and Reverend ensure most commonly upgraded features come standard across all their models. You would instantly assume this would mean these guitars would come at a custom price point, and you would be wrong. Reverend make sure their guitars are accessible to the touring musician and convert players for life. So where did Reverend come from and what makes them special?

    REVEREND HISTORY:

Reverend starts its humble story in a garage behind a bicycle store in East Detroit, USA in 1997. Founder Joe Naylor was built for guitar manufacturing, with a history in Industrial Design, Lutherie & Vintage Guitar Repair, all skills were pulled together to create the first Reverend guitar. From the first cab off the rank, it was apparent the attention to detail in Naylor's guitars would prove Reverend a cut above the rest.

Naylor used his design skills to create entirely new and unseen body shapes that really set Reverend apart on the shop floor and on the stage. Many respected musicians including Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Pete Anderson & Reeves Gabrels (The Cure) represent the brand with their signature models. Even the quality in these signatures is the same as the rest of their range, so you know whether you're a bedroom player or selling out stadiums, you'll be well prepared.

Reverend are currently based in Toledo, Ohio and is run by Ken and Penny Haas. All of the guitars are expertly designed by Joe Naylor, proudly manufactured in South Korea by boutique guitar manufacturer Mirr Music, and meticulously set up in Ohio by Reverend's tech team.

WHAT TO FIND ON A REVEREND GUITAR:

The following features come standard on Reverend Guitars:

    Korina Bodies:
Korina (aka White Limba) is a medium-light weight wood, highly prized for consistency and tonal qualities. Often found in boutique and vintage instruments, all solid-body and semi-hollow Reverends feature Korina bodies. A highly resonant wood, Korina is a key factor to producing our lively, responsive instruments that are rich in harmonics.

Roasted Maple Necks: Roasted Maple is heat treated at over 300° F to remove sugars, moisture, and impurities. This maple is lighter, more stable, and has a beautiful caramel colour. The result is an exceptional maple neck that will require less seasonal adjustment, and boasts a rich vintage look!

Locking Tuners: A thumbwheel under the tuner pushes a steel pin up through the post, locking the string in place for exceptional tuning stability and super-fast string changes.

Triple-Tree String Tree: This patent-pending string tree has an extended bar to hold down three strings at a time with just one tree, eliminating G string buzz in the nut slot.

Custom Pickups: Reverend design their own proprietary custom pickups, to achieve the best tonal match with our instruments. Reverend pickups are also specifically designed for each position, for balanced volume and tone when switching. Pickups include 9A5 (P90 Style), HA5 (Alnico Style Hum), Revtrons (Filtertron Style), Salnico (Strat Style), Talnico (Tele Style), Greasy T (Tele Style) & Railhammers (Half Rails, Half Poles).

Wilkinson Tremolo System (on certain models): Features include saddles that lock to the baseplate, adjustable arm swing tension, and a push-in/no freeplay arm. Combined with our boneite nut and pin-lock tuners, it stays in tune even under aggressive whammy action.

Vari-Claw Tremolo Claw (on Tremolo models): This innovative claw gives you the option of 3 springs in the middle for a firm tremolo feel, or 2 springs on the outside for a softer feel. The offset hook design lets you switch between 3 or 2 springs, with little or no cumbersome adjustment of the claw needed.

Other features also found standard in Reverend Guitars are 10% Tone Pots, Pure Tone Jack, Treble Bleed Circuit, 10% Poly Caps, Bass Contour Control, Boneite Nut, Dual Action Truss Rod & More.
